Owatrol D1 (Deep Penetrating Oil) is formulated specifically for rust treatment – it penetrates rust and displaces moisture, converting and stabilising corrosion on ironwork, chain and fittings rather than just sitting on the surface like a standard rust converter. Both are surface treatments rather than a finish in themselves: use Owatrol Oil or D1 as a prep step, then follow with the appropriate topcoat or paint once the treated surface has had time to work.

On badly rusted or pitted metal, expect to need more than one application before painting over.
