Wetsuits

Our Wetsuits range covers neoprene wetsuits in a range of thicknesses for watersports, dinghy sailing and paddling – insulating by trapping and warming a thin layer of water against your skin, unlike a drysuit which keeps water out entirely.

Thickness is the main variable to get right: a thinner wetsuit (around 2-3mm) suits warmer summer water and higher-activity sports where you’ll generate body heat, while a thicker wetsuit (5mm or more) suits colder Irish water temperatures, especially for less active pursuits like standing on a paddleboard. Fit matters more than most people expect – a wetsuit needs to be snug with no loose water flushing through it, since a loose fit undermines the insulation the suit is meant to provide. See our Drysuits category if you need to stay completely dry rather than accept a thin layer of water against your skin.

Frequently asked questions

What thickness wetsuit do I need for Irish waters?

5mm or more suits most of the year for less active pursuits; thinner suits (2-3mm) work for warmer summer water or higher-activity sports.

Wetsuit or drysuit?

A wetsuit insulates via a thin layer of warmed water against your skin; a drysuit (see that category) keeps you completely dry. Colder conditions or longer immersion generally favour a drysuit.
