Fuel Line & Fittings
Our Fuel Line & Fittings range stocks marine-rated fuel hose, connectors, primer bulbs and clips for outboard and inboard fuel systems – everything needed to replace a perished line or fit a new fuel connection safely.
Always use hose rated specifically for marine fuel use rather than generic automotive or workshop hose – marine fuel hose is built to resist degradation from ethanol-blended fuel and won’t perish and crack in the same way. Match fitting type to your engine manufacturer – outboard primer bulbs and connectors aren’t universal, and a loose or mismatched fitting is one of the most common causes of hard starting or air getting into the fuel line. Replace fuel line on a set schedule rather than waiting for failure: it hardens and cracks from the inside, often invisibly, especially where it flexes near the tank or engine.
Secure every joint with a proper marine-grade hose clip (jubilee clip) rather than a cable tie – vibration works ordinary clips loose over a season.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I replace outboard fuel line?
Every few years as a rule, or sooner if you notice hardening, cracking, or a spongy feel – don’t wait for a visible failure, as fuel line often perishes from the inside first.
Can I use any hose clip on a fuel line?
No – use a marine-grade stainless jubilee clip sized to the hose. Standard clips corrode and vibrate loose, which on a fuel line is a fire and leak risk.
Why is my outboard hard to start?
A common cause is a worn primer bulb or a loose fitting letting air into the fuel line – check connections and the bulb for cracking before assuming it’s an engine fault.
