Floats
Our Floats range covers general-purpose marine floats – for marking pot lines, mooring tackle and general use around the water – distinct from our Buoys category, which covers dedicated mooring buoys.
The distinction from our Buoys category is one of scale and purpose: floats in this range are typically smaller, general-purpose items for marking lines, pots or gear, while our Buoys category covers dedicated mooring buoys built to take the load of a moored boat. Choose based on what you’re marking or supporting – a small marker float for a pot line has very different requirements to a mooring buoy holding a boat’s full weight and windage. Check the specific product’s rated use before buying if you’re unsure which category fits your need.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between Floats and Buoys on your site?
This Floats category covers smaller, general-purpose marker floats; our Buoys category covers dedicated mooring buoys built to hold a moored boat’s load.
Can I use a general float as a mooring buoy?
No – a mooring buoy needs to be rated for the boat’s weight and windage, which general-purpose floats aren’t designed for.
