Our rope range covers the main cordage types used aboard: 3-strand and braided ropes for mooring, anchoring and halyards, in a range of diameters, constructions and colours to suit different jobs around the boat, from dock lines to running rigging.

Match rope construction to the job. 3-strand rope is the traditional, economical choice for mooring and anchor rode – it has some natural stretch, which absorbs shock loads well at a cleat or on a snubbing anchor line. Braided (plaited or double-braid) rope is stronger for its diameter, handles more comfortably, and is the standard choice for halyards and sheets where you need minimal stretch and precise control.

For mooring lines, size rope diameter to your boat’s length and cleat size rather than just breaking strain – too thin a line saws through hands and chafes faster under load. Anchor rode is often a combination: chain nearest the anchor for weight and chafe resistance, spliced or shackled to 3-strand or braided line for the rest of the scope. Check lines regularly for chafe where they run over a fairlead or bow roller, and replace any rope showing fraying, stiffness or UV damage before it fails under load.
