Our Sheets & Halyards range covers low-stretch braided rope for running rigging – sheets that control sail trim and halyards that hoist sails – built to hold shape under load rather than stretch the way a mooring line does.

Sheets and halyards need the opposite property to dock lines: low stretch, so trim and hoist height stay consistent rather than creeping as the rope stretches under load. Most are a polyester braid over a low-stretch core, sized to the boat’s rig and the loads involved – too thin and it’s hard to grip and prone to wear, too thick and it won’t run freely through blocks and clutches. Match diameter to your existing blocks, clutches and jammers before ordering, since an oversized line can jam and an undersized one can slip.

Halyards see more UV and chafe over a season than most other rope on the boat, so inspect them regularly, particularly where they run over sheaves.
