Our Blocks range covers sailing blocks and pulleys that redirect a line’s direction and reduce friction – fitted wherever a sheet, halyard or control line needs to change angle on its way to a winch, cleat or clutch.

Block size and type should match the line running through it, not just the fitting point: an undersized block increases friction and wears the line faster, while an oversized block adds unnecessary weight aloft. Single blocks simply redirect a line; double or triple blocks (used with a matching block to form a purchase system) multiply mechanical advantage for high-load control lines like a mainsheet or vang, letting you handle more load with less effort. Ball-bearing blocks run more freely under load and suit control lines that are adjusted frequently underway, while plain-bearing blocks are simpler, cheaper and often perfectly adequate for lighter, less-frequently-adjusted lines.

Check the block’s rated safe working load against the line and expected load it will see, and inspect sheaves periodically for wear or cracking, particularly on older blocks that have seen several seasons of UV exposure.
