A jib furler is only as good as the lead of its control line, and the Selden Furlex stanchion lead block is the fitting that gets it right. Each block clamps to a guardrail stanchion and carries the furling line aft on an acetal plain bearing sheave, with a universal joint letting the sheave swing to whatever angle the run demands. That self-alignment is what keeps friction down, so the sail rolls away with steady hand pressure instead of a series of heaves. The polyamide body will not corrode against a stainless stanchion or mark it, and takes furling line up to 8mm. Fitted at intervals along the guardrail, these blocks also keep the line up off the side deck where it would otherwise foul the crew’s feet on a wet passage in Irish coastal waters.
