Selden Stand-Up Spring for BBB40 – Ø30 x 40mm Block Support Spring

The stand-up spring for BBB40 holds a 40mm ball bearing block upright on the deck, so the crew can find the block and the sheet stays clear of the deck.

  • Diameter 30mm
  • Height 40mm
  • Holds the block upright when the sheet is slack
  • Keeps the sheet off the deck and clear of fittings
  • Flexes freely so the block aligns under load
  • Fits between the block and its deck eye or padeye
  • Corrosion-resistant construction for continuous salt exposure
  • Suits dinghies, keelboats and cruising yacht deck layouts

A block lying flat on the deck is a block the crew has to bend down and find, and this Selden stand-up spring for BBB40 fixes that. It sits between the BBB 40 block and its deck eye, holding the block on end while the sheet is slack, then flexing out of the way so the block can align properly once load comes on. Standing at 40mm with a 30mm diameter, it also lifts the rope clear of the deck, which cuts chafe on the sheet and stops the block picking up grit. Fit it wherever a block needs to be grabbed in a hurry — a spinnaker turning block, a mainsheet lead, or a foredeck tack line. On Irish coastal waters, gear that presents itself to a cold, wet hand is gear that gets used properly.

Sold as: one spring. Block and deck eye are sold separately.
