Selden Stand-Up Spring for PBB50 – Ø36.5mm Steel Block Support Spring

  • Steel construction
  • Diameter 36.5mm
  • Height 70mm
  • Weight 19g
  • Fits between the block and its deck eye or padeye
  • Holds the block upright when the sheet is slack
  • Flexes under load so the block aligns with the pull
  • Lifts the rope clear of the deck to reduce chafe
  • Suits keelboats and cruising yacht deck layouts

The Selden stand-up spring for PBB50 is the taller of Seldén’s block springs, standing 70mm high on a 36.5mm diameter to suit the 50mm plain bearing block. Fitted between the block and its deck eye, it keeps the block presented upright whenever the sheet goes slack, so the crew is not groping across the deck for it. Once the load comes on, the spring flexes and lets the block find its natural line of pull, which is what protects the sheave and the rope. At 19g it adds nothing meaningful to the weight of a deck layout. On a boat used year round in Irish coastal waters, keeping sheets up off wet, gritty decks is straightforward chafe prevention.

Sold as: one spring. Block and deck eye are sold separately.
