Losing a daggerboard in a capsize turns a recoverable situation into a recovery job, and the bungy is what prevents it. This set uses 6 mm shock cord to hold the board down in the case, with a PVC handle that gives the sailor something solid to pull on when the board needs to come up. The handle does a second job that is easy to overlook: it props the hiking straps upright so a young sailor can get their feet under them without looking down. Everything needed to fit it is in the set, including the 3 mm Vectran retaining line and two sizes of protective tubing to stop chafe where the cord passes through the deck.
