Where the 0.7mm version is a summer suit, the Crewsaver Phase 2 3mm long john wetsuit is the one that covers most of an Irish sailing season. Three millimetres through the legs and torso holds warmth properly once the water drops into single figures, and because it is sleeveless there is no neoprene bunching at the shoulder when you are hiking or trimming. Put a spray top over it and the combination handles a raw spring or autumn day better than most one-piece suits, with the added advantage that you can shed the top when the sun comes out. It is the standard-issue suit for dinghy sailors and instructors for good reason.
